Abstract

Musical training shows positive associations with brain volume in the inferior frontal cortex and parahippocampus in older adults. Musical behaviors relate to a circuit of brain regions involved in executive function, memory, language, and emotion. These findings suggest that musical training may support neuroprotection and cognitive reserve in aging, reinforcing the therapeutic potential of music-based interventions for maintaining brain health in older populations.
