Attention Modulates Electrophysiological Responses to Simultaneous Music and Language Syntax Processing

This EEG study examines how attention shapes the brain's electrophysiological responses when music and language syntax are processed simultaneously. Results show that attentional focus selectively enhances or suppresses neural responses to musical and linguistic violations, revealing shared neural resources and competitive dynamics between music and language processing. These findings have implications for understanding how music can be used to engage and redirect attention in therapeutic contexts.
